What do you do?
I get asked this question a lot, and I find it tricky to answer.
People tend to want to put things in buckets. So they ask if I'm a coach, a mentor, an advisor, consultant, non-exec.
Well yeah. I'm a bit of all of them, but those labels don't really help you understand what I really do.
Rather than focus on the bucket, let's get back to the root of the question.
What I do is:
- I help you make better decisions
- Why?
- Because then you'll have a better business and with it a better life
- Why?
- Because if you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting the same results. And you want different results - you want to build something beautiful. A business that's more than just protecting the bottom line
- Why?
- Because people like you are rockstars. You've taken a chance and put yourself on the line to create a business, you deserve to succeed. I know because I've been there - built companies, sold them, learned the hard lessons. And I've seen how easy it is to get so caught up in the day-to-day that you lose sight of the dream that got you started
So...
- I'll help you think from first principles
- By doing that we scratch away at the surface and get to the root of where the problems and opportunities are
- I won't let you avoid them, because I know from first hand experience that we're wired to avoid them, and this is where the work is
- And most importantly, I'll help you navigate the changes needed to evolve. Because businesses that don't evolve don't survive - and you're building something to last
